Thai Massage

Thai yoga massage is one of the old yogic healing arts arising out of India and later evolving in Thailand

Thai Massage is a clothed massage combining acupressure, massage, joint manipulation and gentle stretches. The relative balance of the different techniques used in a treatment depends on individual needs. In general it is the combination that makes it a unique and potent massage form. As an Eastern form of Massage the focus is on Sen lines (Like Meridians) as much as it is on the physical body. Practitioners are usually trained in yoga and meditation to assist in both learning and self-care.

Traditionally it is a 2 hours plus massage. This may seem very long compared to some treatments; this is due to it being very thorough. Although around 2 hours is the ideal, it is an adaptable massage form and shorter sessions from 1 hour upwards are possible and effective.

Thai Massage is particularly beneficial for aches, pains, stiffness, poor circulation, stress and fatigue. It can be used as a support and complement for Yoga, martial arts, dance and sport. It is also suitable as a preventive, a tonic or to support detox programmes.

In common with other Natural Health practices Thai Massage is holistic in approach and aims to support the natural healing and self-rejuvenating capacities of body and mind.

Many common health issues not listed above resolve or improve in response to the overall rebalancing process of Thai massage. Chronic long-term conditions generally take longer to resolve. In these cases three to six treatments fairly close together can make a significant difference. As with any Natural Health practice, self help in the form of appropriate exercise, diet and lifestyle generally improves the effectiveness of Thai massage treatment. For a general boost for health and vitality, again three to six treatments fairly close together can be very beneficial. As a preventive, a Thai massage every two, four or six weeks is the recommendation.
